2020 – present Winchester District Memorial Hospital – Clinical Manager of Obstetrical, Laboratory, Perioperative, Medical Device Reprocessing, Ambulatory Care, and Hemodialysis services. 

Managing a combination of inpatient and outpatient units/programs concurrently within Winchester District Memorial Hospital (WDMH).

 

 

2020    Winchester District Memorial Hospital – Clinical Manager of Obstetrical, Laboratory, Perioperative, and Ambulatory Care services.  Interim Clinical Manager of Diagnostic Imaging, Diabetic Education, Hemodialysis, Chemotherapy, and the Emergency Department

Managing a combination of 9 inpatient and outpatient units/programs concurrently within Winchester District Memorial Hospital (WDMH).

 

 

2017 – 2020   Winchester District Memorial Hospital – Clinical Manager of Inpatient Services

Managing 6 inpatient units/programs concurrently within WDMH with a total of 53 inpatient beds and more than 90 employees. 
Obstetrics, Medical/Surgical, Enhanced Care Unit, Complex Continuing Care Unit, Discharge Planning/Flow Coordination, and the Charge Nurses.

CLINICAL MANAGER ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 

 •   Budget planning along with variance reporting for each unit/service – remaining fiscally responsible

 •   Chair multiple WDMH departmental quality care team committees

 •   Clinical manager representation on multiple WDMH committees

 •   Investigate and close RIMS (risk information management system), investigate and close complaints, review and complete    recommendations from critical incidents/case reviews

 •   Strategic planning team member

 •   Policy creation and review

 •   Co-design and drive patient care/quality improvement plans that relate to inpatient areas within            respective teams

 •   Recruitment and retention of staff

 •   Monitor staff’s performance including but not limited to performance appraisals and performance management

 •   Work in collaboration with HR and unions (CUPE and ONA) – regular meetings, grievances, workload concerns, arbitration, mediation,   job postings, etc

CLINICAL MANAGER HIGHLIGHTS

​

 •   Collaboratively led multiple units/services through the COVID-19 pandemic

 •   Led an improvement in workplace culture in the Family Birthing department – deceasing sick time by 30% within one year (2018-2019).

 •   Assisted in the creation of a new partnership between Glengarry Memorial Hospital (GMH) and WDMH.  This agreement ensures the safe care and monitoring of NSTEMI patients presenting to GMH.

•   Led the improvement in occupancy rates in subacute programing (complex medical management, restorative care, slow stream rehab, and de-prescribing) at WDMH from 40% to 70%. 

 •  Led the creation of a new partnership between The Ottawa Hospital (TOH) and WDMH.  A new process was formed that allows patients who are awaiting specialized rehab to receive care/rehab services at WDMH – either on an interim bases or to complete our program.

 •  Led a staffing model/staff utilization change in Family Birthing during cesarean sections and high acuity/high volume scenarios.

•   Leading the formation of a partnership between TOH’s psychiatry department and WDMH to assist with ensuring the right patient is in the right bed at the right time upon completion of psychiatric services. 

•   Co-chair a working group between Obstetrics and the Emergency Department to improve working relations and processes between the departments 

 

2015 – 2017   Algonquin College – BScN Student Instructor 
•   Assisting in the preparation of lab classroom activities for family birthing as well as instructing students on safe and appropriate care of the postpartum mother and newborn.   

•   Preparing, instructing, assessing, and evaluating students on the mother/baby unit at Queensway Carleton Hospital, as well as on the mood/crisis and forensic units at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Hospital.

2014 – 2017   Winchester District Memorial Hospital (Med/Surg, Obstetrics, Discharge Planning/Flow Coordination) – Registered Nurse 

Practice in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario.  Provide patient and family centered care.

Acute patient care including but not limited to patient assessment, medication administration, blood product administration, IV insertion and care, CVA care, venepuncture, wound care, bowel and bladder management, performing ECGs and bladder scans, ambulation, planning, implementation and evaluation of care plans, etc.  

•   Med/Surg & CCCU - Palliative care, addictions treatment, stroke rehab, acute patient care, MAiD, post-operative care, etc. 

•   Obstetrics - Labouring mothers, infant assessment/care, postpartum assessment/care, triage, Non Stress Tests, educating & evaluating families on infant care, infant blood work, etc. 

•   Discharge planning/Flow Coordination - Bed management: allocating patient admission placement, off servicing, repatriations.  Discharge planning: discharge location, service coordination, and education.  Researching client needs, hospital relations with partners, family involvement facilitation.

Maintaining relationships with area retirement homes, LTC, group homes.  Active member of quality care teams/committees (CCCU and Med/Surg/ECU), assisting with policy review and creation, and taking part in research projects.  Maintaining communication and education around patient’s needs with staff and family.

•   Research assistant – assisting in research projects pertinent to Med/Surg: Foley catheter removal initiative and empagliflozin research (data entry, survey creation, audits, communication, and education).


2014  L’hopital Montfort (6C Medicine) - Registered Nurse  

•   Patient care including but not limited to personal care, patient assessments (mental/physical), ambulation, medication administration, blood product administration, IV insertion and care, venepuncture, treatments, bowel and bladder management, CIWA protocol, etc.

WDMH Flu Shot Clinic 2020 

 

Every year, WDMH provides flu vaccinations to all staff, physicians, midwives, and volunteers.  Due to the increased risk of being sick during the COVID-19 pandemic, WDMH volunteered to provide several flu shot clinics for families, friends, and neighbours of staff, physicians, midwives, and volunteers.
